FAYETTEVILLE, Stella-Jones Corporation, a Montreal-based infrastructure manufacturer with 45 manufacturing locations across North America, is building its first U.S.-based steel structure manufacturing facility in Lincoln County. The Canadian company will invest $45 million in the new plant at Runway Centre Industrial Park and create nearly 230 jobs, positioning Middle Tennessee as a critical node in the nation's utility infrastructure supply chain.
Stella-Jones manufactures the backbone of America's electric grid: treated wood utility poles, treated wood crossarms, steel lattice towers, railway ties, and residential lumber. The Fayetteville facility, expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2027, will be the company's first U.S. operation dedicated exclusively to steel structure manufacturing. The location reflects growing demand from utilities across the country for the towers and infrastructure components that support reliable power distribution.
The company was founded in 1992 in Quebec, where it maintains its headquarters. Since 2019, Canada has emerged as Tennessee's second-largest partner for job creation through foreign direct investment, with Canadian companies creating more than 4,000 jobs statewide. Stella-Jones' decision to plant this facility in Fayetteville reinforces Tennessee's reputation as a top destination for capital-intensive manufacturing, particularly in sectors tied to infrastructure and energy.
For Lincoln County and the surrounding region, the investment represents substantial long-term opportunity. The facility will employ skilled manufacturing workers in good-paying jobs, anchor the county's industrial base, and support supply chains that serve utilities nationwide. Fayetteville, located between Nashville and Chattanooga, offers strategic proximity to transportation corridors and workforce availability.
The Stella-Jones announcement arrives as Tennessee continues to attract major capital investment in manufacturing sectors that support American infrastructure. The timing underscores the state's appeal to international companies seeking U.S. operations with access to reliable workforce, strategic location, and business-friendly regulatory environment.
