<p><strong>COLUMBIA —</strong> Columbia State Community College's Office of Workforce and Continuing Education recently held a Pre-Apprentice Lineworker Academy Mini-Rodeo, allowing students to demonstrate the practical skills learned during the seven-week training program. Shadon Peery of Columbia won first place overall, followed by Jeremiah Roan of Mount Pleasant in second place and Benjamin Hongsermeier of Dickson in third.</p><p>Upon completion, students received Tennessee Valley Public Power Association climbing certification, first aid, and CPR certification. According to Tiffany Odom, Columbia State's Workforce Solutions coordinator, the program's success depends on "incredible instructors and strong partnerships we have with local utilities and municipalities." These partners provide equipment donations, facility access, and volunteer support that make the training possible.</p>
