<p><strong>COLUMBIA —</strong> Columbia State Community College's Office of Workforce and Continuing Education hosted a Pre-Apprentice Lineworker Academy Mini-Rodeo in December, where students demonstrated skills learned during the seven-week program. Shadon Peery of Columbia took first place, Jeremiah Roan of Mount Pleasant claimed second, and Benjamin Hongsermeier of Dickson finished third.</p><p>The program culminates with students earning Tennessee Valley Public Power Association climbing certification, first aid and CPR credentials, preparing them for work with local utilities and municipalities. "This program stands out because of our incredible instructors and the strong partnerships we have with local utilities and municipalities," said Tiffany Odom, Workforce Solutions and Continuing Education coordinator. The academy fills a critical workforce need in an industry essential to Tennessee's infrastructure.</p>
