COLUMBIA, Tenn., The City of Columbia is now accepting applications for the Fall 2026 session of Columbia 101, an interactive civic engagement program designed to give residents an inside look at how local government operates and the people behind its daily work.

The program runs over two days, September 22 and 23, 2026, beginning each morning at City Hall. Participants will tour municipal facilities, meet city staff across all 12 departments, and learn firsthand about infrastructure, public safety, parks, planning, and public services. The experience gives residents a deeper understanding of how their city functions and the coordination required to keep Columbia running smoothly.

Mayor Chaz Molder, in a statement, described the program as an opportunity for residents to connect with their city and discover ways to get involved in community life. City Manager Tony Massey emphasized that the program creates meaningful conversations between citizens and staff, fostering appreciation for the work happening across departments. Program Director Lexi Dearborn noted that past participants consistently report leaving with greater community pride and a stronger sense of belonging.

Columbia 101 is open to all residents of Columbia and Maury County, regardless of how long they have lived here. A 25-dollar program fee covers meals, transportation, and materials. Applications are due by Friday, August 7, 2026. Interested residents can pick up applications at the reception desk on the third floor of City Hall or visit the city website.
