COLUMBIA — Tennesseans who suffered losses in the January ice storm have less than a month to apply for federal disaster assistance. The FEMA application deadline is June 10, 2026, according to WPLN Nashville Public Radio.

The federal agency has already distributed nearly $24 million to more than 10,500 applicants in 29 approved counties. Assistance can cover temporary lodging, home repairs, medical bills related to storm injuries, and transportation costs. Applications can be filed online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by visiting FEMA's disaster page at fema.gov/disaster/4898. Additional funding has also been directed to local governments and rescue nonprofits beyond the individual assistance program.

Maury County residents who experienced damage to their homes, vehicles, or property during the January storm are urged to apply before the deadline — even if they are unsure they qualify. Missing this window means forfeiting aid that could make a real difference for working families still recovering.
